An organizer of the annual Art Auction says Saturday’s event was a big success.

While Visual Arts Coordinator for the Peace Gallery North, Shar Coultry, refused to say how much was raised in this year’s fundraiser, she said the funds will be well used.

The Art Auction had a total of 57 pieces for sale. An Allen Sapp acrylic painting went for $7,700, and there were plenty of silent auction items up for grabs.

Coultry says the undisclosed amount of money will go towards operational costs for the Peace Gallery North, a student bursary, and will also hire instructors for the children’s free art camps this summer.

Anyone interested in registering their children in the free art camps should call Peace Gallery North at 250-787-0993.
