Donations are poring in to help those affected by Friday nights apartment fire.
Sterling Management has setup a drop off location in the Totem Mall behind Staples. All day Sunday, generous Fort St. John and North Peace Residents have been dropping off donations. Donations run from clothing, to TV’s to furniture and more.
Crystal Herman is with Sterling Management and says the donations are being dropped off by the truck load. Tenants of the building are also encouraged to visit the Totem Mall location to pick up anything they may need.
With the fire, half the building has been destroyed, on the other side of the fire wall, those apartments will only have smoke and water damage. Although at this time, the Fire Department will not let anyone in to inspect their belongings until they determine if the building is safe.
Sterling Management will continue to collection donations all this week at the Totem Mall location with the help of the ABC Thrift Store staff.
Sterling will also be helping residents move some of the furniture that has been donated into their new apartment. They hope to start moving residents into new apartments on Monday. The owner of the building will also be giving residents one month of free rent in any of his other properties in Fort St. John.
If you have something you would like to donate but can’t bring it to the Totem Mall, call Sterling Management at 250-785-2829
