We’re still about seven weeks away from the official start of summer, but it would appear the summer driving season has already arrived in Fort St. John.
With the Petro-Can, Esso and FasGas filling stations taking the lead, posted prices for a regular liter of gasoline have jumped this morning by 12.7 cents.
The new posted price at those outlets is $113.9.
According to BCGasPrices.com that’s nearly 5 cents a liter higher than the BC average, and close to 10 cents higher than the national average.
The local price is also now 14 cents a liter higher than it was at this time last year, but that is right in line with the year-over-year increase in the national average.
The price hike comes on the heels of another major increase in the price of oil, which jumped nearly two dollars a barrel yesterday, and at last report this morning was trading at roughly 85 and half dollars U.S.
