The future of a new sports storage facility in Fort St. John remains uncertain.
Last year, the local Sports Council formed a plan to set up six storage buildings for sports equipment on City-owned land.
City Council loaned the group $35,000, to help the organization qualify for a Capital Expenditure Grant through B.C. Lotteries.

That grant would have provided the remaining funds for the estimated $70,000 of the storage project.
However, at Monday’s Council meeting, Gail Weber and Connie Richter said that the Sports Council has been denied the Grant. So, the group presented a cheque, to return the loan to the City.
But Richter says the Sports Council will continue exploring its options for storage facilities.

As it turns out, the $35,000 loan generated $30.70 in interest as it sat in the bank. That money was also given to the City.
