The RCMP is giving out few details, but has confirmed it is investigating two weekend assault and confinement cases in Chetwynd.

A police news release indicates they occurred at separate residents on Saturday and Sunday, but says there’s no indication they were related.

However, the release does say that in both incidents, the alleged victims and suspects were well known to each another.

It also says a suspect was taken into custody yesterday and a search warrant was executed at the residence where the incident occurred.

It indicates, but does not specifically state, that was also the case on Saturday.

In both cases police are taking public information assistance calls, at the Chetwynd detachment and toll free crime stoppers numbers…250-788-9221 or 1-800-222-8477.
