The Fort St. John Fire Department was called to the North Peace Airport on Thursday afternoon.
Fire officials received word that a small airplane was having some mechanical issues in the air.
Deputy Fire Chief Curtis Redpath confirmed that the plane was carrying around 20 people when one of the plane’s flaps jammed in flight.
The plane was reportedly heading to Dawson Creek when the mechanical failure happened, but for safety reasons, was rerouted.
Fire crews and local RCMP members stood by as the plane safely landed at the local airport.
Redpath says the plane will be fixed after officials examine it to see what happened.
