Around 60 people lost almost everything in the fire at the Totem Courts apartment complex on 93rd Avenue. Most tenants didn’t have insurance. The fire is still under investigation.

Now, donations are being taken at the Totem Mall in Fort St. John.

Alexander says clothes are no longer needed. However, she says there is a desperate need for items like adult beds, toiletries and small appliances.

Anyone interested in volunteering can drop-in to the donations site, located in the Totem Mall, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. until Friday.

Meanwhile, stories of community support for the fire victims continue to surface, and two of them come from the BC Oil and Gas Commission where Shannon Weatherhill works.

She has three children, who work at the A&W outlet with eight of the fire victims. Weatherhill’s family is now picking up and delivering donated items by commission employees, to the Totem Mall drop off centre.

And OGC employee, Maria Reschke, and her sons, are organizing a bottle/can drive to raise support funds. For more information, contact Maria or Shannon at 250-261-5711.
