Cops nab impaired drivers

By staff

The Fort St. John RCMP detachment cracked down on impaired and aggressive drivers this past weekend.

Officers took part in a spring enforcement campaign, to make sure drivers were obeying the law.

Police caught 25 impaired drivers, eight of which are now facing criminal charges for driving under the influence. Police also executed one Canada-wide warrant under the Canada Immigration Act.

In addition, 68 drivers were caught for not wearing their seatbelts, officers seized drugs from six vehicles, and 81 other violation tickets were issued. Two drivers were caught for driving while suspended.

However, the RCMP released a statement on Tuesday that commends the drivers who drive sober.

Officers will be out in full force from April 22nd to 25th to conduct another enforcement campaign.
