What looked like an out of control fire turned out to be a controlled burn.
A property owner was conducting a large controlled burn on fields just outside Fort St. John on Friday afternoon.
Winds pushed the smoke closer to the city, but eventually calmed down and the smoke subsided.
The Province continues to warn the public about grass burning, and is reminding property owners to contact the nearest fire department before conducting any burns.
