It looks like the gas pump honeymoon may be over for local area motorists.
Prior to opening this morning, at least three local filling stations, the Petro-can and Esso outlets on 100th street and FasGas on 108th street had posted prices for a regular liter, at a 109.9 cents.
That represents an increase of 8.7 cents and brings to an end nearly half a year of local prices near a dollar a liter.
It also comes on the heels of nearly a two cent drop in the national average price in the past week.
The weekly monitor of Calgary based MJ Ervin and Associates shows it fell 1.07 cents a liter to a 105.00.
According to www.bcgasprices.com the new posted price in Fort St. John is also above the provincial average, even though it is up to a 108.3 cents and is nearly 12 cents a liter higher than it was this time last year.
