A Williams Lake company beat out 12 other businesses vying for a lagoon twinning project in Fort St. John.

Fort St. John City Councilors granted Lake Excavating Ltd. the tender to conduct the work on the North Lagoon Trunk Main Project at Monday night’s Council meeting.

Lake Excavating submitted a tender valued at more than $2.9 million for the project. The bid was lower than the engineer’s estimate of $3.5 million.

The project is for the twinning of the sanitary sewer trunk main that flows to the North Lagoons in the City. It’s expected that the project will alleviate sanitary sewer flooding problems.

The new Fort St. John Hospital will eventually be connected to the North Lagoon sewer main.
