BC Stats. has put a very positive local spin on the February jobless numbers announced last Friday.
It says the Northeast Region again led the way with a rate of only 4.4% ..as for the first time, since beginning an upward trend in the second half of 2008, BC registered a jobless rate decline for two consecutive months.
At 7.7%, the provincial rate is now a half a percentage point below the national rate, of 8.2%, although still the highest rate among the four western provinces.
Generally speaking, the new jobless numbers have had a positive impact on the Canadian dollar, which was trading overseas this morning at 98.24 cents U.S.
