Midget B Flyers take lead in All Peace finals

The Formula Powell Midget “B” Flyers headed to Grande Cache on Sunday, to play game 1 of their 2 game final the All Peace League championship banner.
The Flyers’ Phillip Davis started the ball rolling by scoring in the first four minutes of the game, assisted by Brent Loewn and Tyrel Lepine. Two minutes later, Tyler Kramer got one in the net, with assists to Kyle Gardiner and Shane Roy. Not to be outdone, the Rockies managed to sneak one into the net to get on the board. The Flyers continued their onslaught and fired two more into the Rockies net, with Shane Roy and Kyle Leonard getting on the board, with assists going to Cody Belcourt and Beauden Lancaster (Leonard’s tally being a short-handed marker).
The second period was all Rockies, with Grande Cache coming out strong, and scoring 3 goals. Beauden Lancaster replied for the Flyers, with help from Luke Hopkins.
The game was all tied up after two periods, and the third period saw the Rockies come out determined to win the game, outshooting the Flyers 25-10. But, the Flyers held strong, with Craig Wozniak playing solid in goal. Zac Scott started the Flyers off by banging home a loose puck while the Flyers were short-handed. The Flyers then managed to put 3 more goals behind the Rockies’ netminder – scoring were Tyler Kramer, Beauden Lancaster, and Kyle Gardiner.  The Rockies managed to get two more goals, one being a powerplay marker.
The Flyers came out on top, winning 9-7. The coaching staff was pleased with the team’s effort, particularly for scoring twice while short-handed, and for playing with a short-bench.
The win leaves the Flyers in good position to bring the banner home. Game 2 will be held at the Enerplex, on March 13th, at 5:00 p.m.
