The Fort St. John RCMP have provided a little more information on a one-vehicle accident on the Alaska Highway on Monday.

The detachment says a northbound tanker unit left the roadway amid heavy snow and poor visibility.

The tractor trailer went into the ditch, and overturned, though the driver is reported to be uninjured.

Police say the road has been reduced to single-lane alternating traffic, with a complete closure expected, when a crane arrives the haul the tanker out of the ditch.

So, the RCMP advise that drivers prepare for delays in the area, about 10 kilometres north of Wonowon.

The detachment also says there are slippery sections all over the highway, due to the recent snowfall, meaning drivers should reduce speeds, and drive carefully.
