Vehicle of missing male Dwight Middleton found on Highway 52.

The Fort St. John RCMP with the help of the Dawson Creek Detachment and two hunters have found the vehicle belonging to Dwight Middleton.  The vehicle was found near a remote well site off the Heritage Highway on February 20th.  The hunters observed the unoccupied vehicle parked near the Oetata Road.  The hunters reported the vehicle to the Dawson Creek RCMP, who confirmed that the vehicle was registered to Dwight Middleton.

The RCMP believes the vehicle has been parked at the well site for several weeks.

Since the discovery of the vehicle, RCMP members from Dawson Creek and Fort St. John have been assisting South Peace and Tumbler Ridge Search and Rescue teams with ground and aerial searches.

Cst. Jackelynn Passarell says the RCMP are looking at a recovery search and do not believe Dwight Middleton is still alive, but they classify the file as a missing person’s case.  Passarell also says they do not believe Middleton was in the area for work and was driving his personal vehicle.

The RCMP is also working with the owner of the well site to see when the site was last visited by any of their staff or contractors in order to create a time line.

The RCMP are now asking anyone who may have seen Dwight Middleton and or his vehicle, a 2001 grey GMC Sierra pickup, BC license 9640FB, in this area to contact the Fort St. John RCMP at 250-787-8140

This map shows the approximate location of the well site.
