Allan Cup organizers seek extra help

As the countdown begins for the 2010 Allan Cup Competition, organizers continue to recruit volunteers and sponsors.

President of the Fort St. John Senior Flyers, Paul van Nostrand, talked about the prestigious competition on Moose FM’s Issues and Answers on Wednesday.

He says around 50 volunteers are needed for everything from ticket sales to security. And although sponsorships have been rolling in lately, van Nostrand says funds are still needed.

A full list of volunteer opportunities is posted on the Allan Cup website, at www.2010allancup.ca. There’s also information on sponsorship packages, game times, and the highly-anticipated Hockey Hall of Fame exhibit.

But there’s still no word yet on what day the Stanley Cup will visit the City, though van Nostrand says it has been booked.

The competition runs from April 19th-24th at the North Peace Arena.
