It’s hockey mania for the next week in Fort St. John.
The City proclaimed January 13th to 23rd as Minor Hockey Week.
Kids decked out in their hockey jerseys approached City Council on Monday, to request the proclamation that would coincide with BC Minor Hockey Week.
Theresa Hipkiss is the Publicity Chairperson for the Fort St. John Minor Hockey Association.
She says there are a couple of events planned to celebrate the week. The Minor Hockey Association is participating in a ‘penalty-free challenge’ that is sponsored by the Canucks Centre for B.C. Hockey. So, whenever a team goes penalty free in a regularly scheduled game, the team can enter to win prizes from the Canucks Centre.
Meanwhile, the Fort St. John Senior Flyers are offering free admission to minor hockey players on Saturday the 23rd. All minor hockey players who wear their jersey will get free admission, when the Flyers host the Dawson Creek Senior Canucks.
