A Fort St. John couple is trying to help a local woman battle through a rare form of cancer.
21 year-old Chelsey Chambers was diagnosed with tongue cancer in December. Since then, the newly-wed has had part of her tongue removed, only to find that the cancer has spread.
Registered Nurse Neil Evans works with Chelsey at the Fort St. John hospital. Neil says Chelsey is now back from Vancouver and is awaiting yet another partial tongue-removal surgery as well as neck surgery.

Chelsey just recently married her high school sweetheart, Dustin. The pair bought a farm together and own several horses. Since Chelsey is only a casual LPN, she does not receive sick time, nor does she or her husband receive full healthcare benefits.
Loni Evans says Chelsey began to worry when she found out she had to travel to Vancouver for surgery.

So, Neil and Loni are spearheading an extensive fundraiser for the pair. They already completed a "Chelsey’s Angel’s" Pub Crawl, and have sold-out a dinner and dance on January 29th.
However, Loni says donations are still needed. The pair is holding an ongoing bottle drive. All refundable bottles and cans can be dropped off behind the fence at 8829 113th Avenue. Bottles will also be accepted at the dinner and dance.
There’s also a Trust Account set up for Chelsey at the CIBC bank. The account number is 03090/85-45286.
