According to BC Stats, the population of Fort St. John grew by 665 people last year and is now 19,457.
The 3.5 per cent increase was the largest among the seven Peace Region communities listed.
BC Stats also reports that is also three times the rate of Dawson Creek, which recorded an increase of .8 per cent, to 11,514.
The two other listed North Peace communities of Hudson’s Hope and Taylor recorded increases of 1.9 and .8 per cent, respectively.
The Peace River Regional District gained 1,252 people, and was up 2.1 per cent to 62,244.
Further north, the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality registered a one per cent drop. Fort Nelson’s population has remained unchanged from 2008, at 4,398.
