A Chetwynd man is facing two sexual assault charges.
Ashley J. Ford was charged on January 19th, 2010 with sexual exploitation towards a young person and a separate charge of sexual assault.
It’s not the first time Ford has faced these kinds of charges. During a November 20th, 2009 court hearing, Ford was handed a slew of sentences after he allegedly assaulted a woman and solicited sex from a youngster.
Police say Ashley J. Ford had been text-messaging sexually depicted messages to a young female in June 2008. The Mounties were notified of the text-messages and began investigating Ford’s phone records. Officers discovered that at one point, Ford had offered to pay the young person for sexual services.
At the Dawson Creek Provincial Court house on November 20th, 2009, Ford was found guilty of invitation to sexual touching to someone under 16 years old. He was sentenced to six months in jail, with two years probation.
During that same hearing in Dawson Creek, Ford also faced charges of assaulting a woman multiple times. On that offence, he was ordered to serve three months in jail. Ford was also handed a five-year firearm prohibition and was placed on a two year probation. In addition to that, Ford was convicted of one count of common assault, and was sentenced to three months jail time. He was once again placed on probation for two years.
But it didn’t stop there, as he also faced charges of uttering threats to an adult female. During a two week period, Ford had text messaged the woman 63 times. Each text message contained abusive and profane comments. He was handed four months of jail time for that conviction.
