Despite more than doubling last year’s December total, the 12 month value of construction in Fort St. John in 2009 was only one-third of what it was in the previous two years.
13 permits were issued last month, worth more than 1.8 million dollars, as compared to 6 permits, worth less than 825,000, in December of 2008.
However, the year-over-year comparison show, the value of construction was nearly 29 million in 2009 but almost 87 million in both 2008 and 2007.
City revenue from last year’s building permits was also down to about 103,000 dollars from about 184,000 in 2008.
