EnCana lets go Willbros Employees

In early March of 2009, EnCana let go 60 Willbros Employees after alchol was found in a camp building a pipeline in the Horn River area.  This story created a fire storm of comments and became the most read story from March to April of 2009.

Largest Cocaine Seizure ever in Dawson Creek

On Wednesday March 18th, 2009, the Dawson Creek RCMP executed a search warrant for a grow-op in the community.  On top of the grow-op, the RCMP also found cocaine with a street value of over $100,000, making this bust the largest cocaine bust in DC history.  Dennis Ewonchuk and Leah Underwood were arrested.  Ewonchuk later in the year pled guilty and was sentenced to 5 years in jail.

Three Chetwynd Residents die in motor vehicle accident

On Saturday March 21st, 2009 a two vehicle collision occured about 30km South of Dawson Creek, in which 3 Chetwynd residents were killed.  What made this story even more tragic, was the fact that they were travelling to attend a funeral that day in Dawson Creek.

Mayor Lantz taken to Prince George Hospital

On Tuesday March 10th, Mayor Lantz was taken to a Prince George hospital Tuesday, after an unscheduled landing on a flight from Fort St. John to Vancouver.  This was the second time in four months the Mayor was addmitted to a hospital.  Just prior to Christmas in 2008 Mayor Lantz suffered a mild heart a attack.

Pat Pimm wins Liberal Nomination

On March 21st, 2009, Pat Pimm was picked as the Liberal Candidate for Peace River North.  In May of 2009, Pimm was elected to represent the residents of Peace River North in Victoria.
