Much of the Peace Region is under Environment Canada Snowfall and Winter Storm warnings this morning.
The area in question, includes Chetwynd, Dawson Creek, Grande Prairie and Peace River.
However, so far the warnings have not been officially extended, far enough north, on this side of the border, to include Fort St. John.
In the South Peace, 10 to 15 centimeters of snow is expected by this evening, as the result of an Arctic cold front moving southward across the region.
It is also expected to be accompanied, by a strong northerly wind, resulting in periods of blowing snow and poor visibility.
In Fort St. John however, we’re now only forecast to get about 2 centimeters of snow, but we are expected to get the howling Northwest wind, which is already near 30 kilometers per hour.
So the blowing snow and reduced visibility could also be a problem this morning in this region.
