Flyers double up Mustangs

The Senior Flyers posted a 6-3 win in Hythe on Friday night.

After a scoreless first period, former Spirit River Ranger Mike Lefley opened the scoring six minutes into the second.  Lefley and his brother Colin, as well as Riley Jebb and Trevor Mazurek had all landed in Hythe after the Rangers had been forced to fold.  Another pick-up, Matt Yesmaniski, earned the start in goal, and stopped 38 of the 44 shots sent his way.

Midway through the second, Aaron Scheppers got the Flyers onto the scoresheet, when he scored his first of two goals on the night.  David Alexander and Bryce Novak chipped in second period goals, and the Flyers led 4-1 after 40 minutes.

The teams swapped goals in the third period, with Ryan Lizotte and Mike Lefley (his second) scoring for the Mustangs, and Luke Middleton and Kip Noble (empty net) responding for Fort St. John.

Troy Hunt earned the win in goal, stopping 30 of 33 shots, while Donny Lloyd continued to impress in a Flyers jersey, chipping in three assists.

The teams combined for 110 minutes in penalties, including one fight between Ian Muno and Riley Jebb.

The Flyers next action is November 19th, when they play their first game in Dawson Creek, against the Senior Canucks.  The game will be broadcast live on MooseFM.
