Sci-Tech Awards Gala honours northeast innovations

Sci-Tech north is once again holding its Excellence in Innovation awards next week.

Highlighting the event is keynote speaker Scott Kress, an accomplished mountaineer and MBA Professor.

Kress is the 51st Canadian to reach the peak of Mount Everest. He uses his mountaineering experience to teach leadership skills to organizations.

Nominations for this year’s awards can still be submitted to Sci-Tech North through its website. All nominees will receive a complimentary ticket to attend the 2009 Excellence in Innovation Awards Dinner and ceremonies on Friday October 16.

There are seven categories that range from Innovative Youth of the Year to Technology Entrepreneur of the Year.

Executive Director of Sci-Tech North, Lori Ackerman, says the awards recognize how vital invention is to industry.

Both Kress and Ackerman will appear on Moose FM’s Issues and Answers on Wednesday morning.
