Police awaiting autopsy results in Doig Reserve death

The Fort St. John RCMP are now treating a suspicious death at the Doig River First Nations Reserve as a homicide.

Officers say 40 year-old Kevin Attachie was found dead at a residence in the community on Sunday October 25th.

Constable Craig Douglass with the RCMP North District, says police still can’t confirm the cause of death, until receiving the results of the autopsy.

He says there are a number of sections involved in the investigation including the Fort St. John General Investigation Section, the North District Major Crimes Sections, the North District General Investigations Section, and First Nations Policing Unit of the RCMP.

Investigators are not saying if the RCMP have any suspects associated with the incident.

Cst. Douglass says it’s unknown how long this investigation will take.
