Enerplex users will now have a spot to warm their bellies, after the City granted a nine month lease agreement with a local concession operator.
City Council unanimously decided to lease the space out to LJ Concessions at the council meeting on Tuesday night.
Director of Facilities and Protective Services Jim Rogers says owner Jane Hastings has a proven track record with the City.
Hastings also runs the concession at the North Peace Leisure Pool.
Rogers says the concession could be operational as soon as this week. Hastings provided the city a sample menu, which includes everything from burgers and fries to fruits and veggie plates.
LJ Concessions will pay the City $750.00 per month to operate on the first floor of the building.
Meanwhile, work continues on the facility. Rogers says the padding component has been settled in terms of composition and layout. The city is waiting confirmation on the delivery date to time the installation of the ice.
He says the City is working out the kinks of the first floor, and construction continues on the second and third.
The grand opening of the Enerplex is set for November 27th.
