Mayor Bruce Lantz has shed more light on what to expect in terms of new Enerplex construction following last week’s confirmation, that the facility will get a $7.5 million, from the three government stimulus package, funding injection… [asset|aid=1917|format=mp3player|formatter=asset_bonus|title=a9f8bd73c9c4547d07956e71f65c1271-Bruce-2_5_Pub.mp3]
He noted that all the stimulus money is targeted for construction, with the specific purpose of creating jobs, and therefore cannot and will not be used, to pay down debt.
According to Lantz, the money has already been included in the city’s budget under the capital budget. With the stimulus money, the Mayor says the City will now be able to complete all the projects on the drawing board, instead of having to phase in certain projects.
Tenders for the projects will be put out over the coming months, with construction expected to start early in the spring of 2010.
Meantime, we also have confirmation that the Northern Rockies Municipality has received 10 million dollars, in federal and provincial funding, to help rebuild the recreation complex, in Fort Nelson.
