Council reviewing accident-prone intersection

City Councilors are looking to make the intersection of 100th Avenue and 102nd Street a little safer.

Over the weekend, the Fort St. John RCMP responded to two motor vehicle accidents at the same intersection.

So, Councilor Lori Ackerman asked city staff to draw up a report on possible solutions.

Director of Infrastructure and Capital Works Victor Shopland says the City will look at getting advance left turning lights and turning lanes. The concept is similar to the intersection of 100th Avenue and 96th Street.

Shopland says the City will also review the statistics of accidents available from ICBC.

Now, staff will bring back a report, and Council will debate the issue at a later council meeting.
