Fort St. John Mayor Bruce Lantz says Education Minister Margaret MacDiarmid was excited about the idea of using the Enerplex as a school campus.

Lantz is attending the UBCM Annual Convention in Vancouver this week. He and representatives from the School District 60 talked to MacDiarmid on Wednesday, about the possibility of using some space in the new facility for local students.

The School District is looking at relocating 250 secondary students to the Enerplex. The district is looking for instructional office space as well as space for classrooms.

In May, the school board sent a capital plan to the Ministry of Education.

Now, Lantz says the School District will continue to be in talks with the Ministry.

In other UBCM Convention news, Lantz says there were a number of resolutions passed on Wednesday.

He says Fort St. John’s submitted resolutions will likely be discussed on Thursday.

Resolutions that are passed will be turned into recommendations, and lobbied at a Provincial level.
