The Northeast BC Energy Conference begins on Wednesday in Dawson Creek.
All the big players are expected to be in attendance including EnCana Corp., Spectra Energy and Shell Canada.
The packed agenda begins at 9 a.m., with a pre-conference tour scheduled at the Bear Mountain Wind Park in Dawson Creek.
On Thursday, the conference kicks off at the EnCana Events Centre. Dawson Creek Mayor Mike Bernier and the Energy Minister Blair Lekstrom will be welcoming the participants.
Regional updates are penned-in for 8:30 a.m., allowing corporations to update each other on current and future projects.
Now, the conference isn’t primarily focusing on the oil and gas industry. On Thursday morning, a nearly two hour session is focused on Renewable Energies. And on Friday, Moberly Lake’s Chief Willson will conduct a presentation on the Moberly Lake Solar Project.
The highlight of the conference will be a keynote adress from Preston Manning. Manning was the first leader of the Reform Party of Canada. He sat in Parliament for this party until retirement, after which it in turn merged with the Progressive Conservative Party to form the Conservative Party of Canada.
Manning will be talking about community interests and responsible development of energy resources. For more information, visit www.dawsoncreek.ca/energy
