The North Peace Secondary School is welcoming the upcoming school year with a new idea called Time and Support block.

This new concept was implemented to encourage students to do better in school.

The Time and Support block is a mandatory session that Grade 10 Students will take from 8:45 in the morning until quarter after nine. The session is not held on Monday mornings.

Principal Daniel Vecchio says the course is optional for grade 11 and 12 students.

However, if a student in Grade 11 of 12 falls below 60 per cent in a course, the student will be ordered to go to the Time and Support block.

Vecchio says students will have an opportunity to catch up on homework and ask questions during the 45 minute sessions.

He also says he hopes the program will encourage better attendance, because attendance and poor grades go hand-in-hand.

Half of the school’s teachers will be monitoring during the Time and Support. Now, the other half will be collaborating during this time.

Vecchio says that part is unique because it gives teachers time to help each other learn together and share teaching techniques.

There will be a parent information session on Tuesday 8th at 7:00 in the gym. Vecchio will be there to address any questions or concerns. For more information visit
