It’s not clear how many residents have returned home after a large fire broke out on Sunday evening, in Fort St. John.
At around 7:30pm, fire crews were called to the blaze at Rosenau Transport and Unified Valve, that forced the evacuation of the Peace Country Trailer Park.
Lori Ackerman is a Disaster Assistance Responder with the Provincial Emergency Program. She says around 30 families checked in at a reception area set up at the North Peace Arena.
Constable Jackelynn Passarell with the Fort St. John RCMP says there still isn’t a final tally on damage to the homes. But, she says she knows of at least one building that suffered damaged to the exterior.
Ackerman says on Sunday night, most residents arranged accommodations with friends or family in the city. Others were accommodated at the Northwoods Inn.
Ackerman says the families affected do have access to necessities like food and clothes.
There are approximately 140 trailer homes in the park.
