The District of Taylor will soon start trimming the fat.

Earlier in July, Vancouver-based production company Force Four announced that Taylor is being considered for a series that would document a town whose residents have chosen to lose weight and get healthy.

Over the weekend, television crews were in the town to make a promotional video that they will eventually pitch to the CBC.

Mayor of the District of Taylor, Fred Jarvis says so far the idea has generated nothing but positive relations within the community.

More than 200 community members came out to a public weigh-in on Saturday, on scales that were set up across from the Community Hall.

Now, it should take around a month to know if the community will actually get to participate in the documentary. But Jarvis says residents are keeping their fingers crossed.

Jarvis says the company is looking to film for 90 days beginning next February. He says the goal is for Taylor residents to lose a combined two and a half tons, or five thousand pounds.
