Air Canada has confirmed a flight bound for Fort St. John had to return to Vancouver this morning, after being struck by lightning.

Air Canada Jazz Corporate Communications Manager Debra Williams confirms flight 8181 turned back to Vancouver shortly after its 8:45 take-off.

Standard A.C. operating procedures mandate all flights undergo maintenance checks of aircraft after such occurrences, although planes are designed to withstand lightning strikes.
