Warm weather to continue into August

There is still no end in sight to the oppressive heat wave, with the local forecast calling for another full week of sunny skies and high temperatures reaching the low thirties, by Wednesday and Thursday.

If it is accurate, then Fort St. John will record ten straight days of highs, of 26 degrees or better and only one day, the 19th of July, with a high of less than 23.7, in the 18 day period from July 15th through August 1st.

So far the warmest day of the period was last Friday, with a high of 28.2, but that was nearly three degrees less than the July 24th record of 31.1, set in 1950.

Today however, the forecast high is 29 degrees and if we get that warm we will easily break the daily record, that has lasted more than six and half decades.  The July 27th record is only 27.8 and it was set in 1943.

The alltime record high for Fort St. John is 33.6 and it was established on August 9th of 1981.
