The value of construction in Fort St. John last month was also down to about half of what it was in June of 2008 and only about a quarter of what it was in 2007.
39 permits were issued with a construction value of $3,468,000. The number of permits was actually more than either of the previous two June totals.
However last year 32 June permits were valued at $6,629,000 and the same month in 2007, 33 permits had a total value of more than $12 million.
It’s a similar story when you compare the year-to-date totals, with $7,750,000 this year compared to $48,950,000 last year and $38,749,000 in 2007.
The 39 permits issued last month put about $12,000 in the city’s cash register and moved the year-to date-total over 36,000.
However, that is also only about one third of the previous two years, with the six month totals nearly 115,000 in 2008, and 109,000 in 2007.
