Beryl Prairie Road to be upgraded

The Beryl Prairie Road will see some improvements over the next year.

MLA Pat Pimm announced Monday that the project had entered the tender phase and he hopes construction will start in early August of this year.

This project includes the application of new sealcoats and other structural improvements. Through Brenot Creek, the road will be widened, concrete barriers will be installed, pullouts will be added at the top of the two hills and sight distance will be improved by removing a hump on the top of one hill and cutting back some of the bank. New culverts will be installed throughout much of the project to improve drainage along the road.

This project will improve basic access for resource extraction, tourists and residents. The project is funded as a provincial-federal partnership through the Oil and Gas Rural Road Rehabilitation Improvement Program.

All the work is expected to be completed by September of 2010.
