Support Fort St John News

Five local emergency services personnel are getting ready to take on the world in the 2009 World Police and Fire Games in Vancouver.

The five athletes include a firefighter, a Deputy Sheriff and three RCMP Constables.  Captain Brent Morgan, will be competing in Hockey.  Cpt. Morgan has been a full time firefighter in Fort St. John for ten years and currently plays hockey in the Taylor Men’s league.

Deputy Sheriff Kaitilyn Hartnell, will be competing in both the women’s soccer tournament and the co-ed soccer tournament.  Hartnell is actively involved in the Fort St. John Soccer Club.

Cst. Jackelynn Passarell and Cst. Jessica Veysey will be teaming up with RCMP members from Alberta to compete in Soccer.  Both Cst. Passarell and Cst. Veysey are actively involved in the Fort St. John Soccer Club.

Cst. Shawn Ingham will be tackling two sports.  He will be playing hockey with the Prince George Corrections team and football with a team from the Lower Mainland.

The 2009 World Police and Fire Games presented by Telus get underway on Friday July 31st and will run until August 9th.  The games are open to all full-time professional firefighters, law enforcement, customs and correctional officers from around the world.
