A Fort St. John boy is making good use out of his summer holiday, by trying to spearhead a fundraiser for the local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Ten-year old Cole Rafter brought the idea to City Hall on Monday, and pitched the idea to Mayor Bruce Lantz and the Councilors.
Rafter says he was looking at some online classifieds when he came across an ad from the SPCA. The organization was looking for donations, and Rafter says he began thinking of ways to fundraise.

His mom Terri Rafter accompanied him to the impromptu delegation. She says she wanted her son to get approval from the City before he started planning.
Before the meeting, Rafter hand-delivered a proposal letter to Mayor Bruce Lantz. Lantz says even though the City receives hundreds of letters at any given time, this one in particular caught his eye.

The fundraiser is still in its early stages, but Rafter says he would like to hold the bike-a-thon in August or September.
