The Fort St.John RCMP detachment has released the name of the man accused of a vicious attack on a local taxi-cab driver.
On the morning of July 20th, a taxi was called to an apartment at the corner of 86th street and 89th avenue. Shortly after the suspect entered the vehicle, he began repeatedly hitting the driver in the head with a metal weapon.
The suspect then fled the scene, but police dogs were able to locate him and he was taken into custody.
Twenty-four year old Brandon Moore is accused of attacking the driver, and has now been charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, obstruction a police officer and driving while prohibited.
Moore will remain in custody pending the results of his next court appearance on July 29th, 2009.
Police say they have determined a possible motive for the assault and will be suggesting further charges of Robbery to the Crown Counsel.
