This holiday season, all of our Supporters are entered to win an $800 Shopping Spree Giveaway!

A local aboriginal society has received one thousand dollars to offer a new holistic program for Fort St. John youth.

The North East Native Advancing Society will be receiving the funding to offer two, six-week yoga sessions through its Rising Spirit Aboriginal Youth Centre.

The funding comes after the 2010 Legacies Now organization announced it would be distributing 39 thousand dollars to 39 Aboriginal organizations throughout British Columbia.

Chief executive officer for 2010 Legacies Now, Bruce Dewar says he hopes this funding will benefit today’s youth and create community legacies for the youth of tomorrow.

2010 Legacies Now was set up to create sustainable legacies that will benefit BC as a result of hosting the 2010 Olympic and Paralympics Winter Games.

Dawson Creek will also be benefiting from a one thousand dollar donation. The Nawican Friendship Centre will put their money towards supporting local dancers to attend Pow-Wows.
