An abandoned vehicle that was set on fire Monday night resulted in the explosion heard by many Fort St. John residents, between 10:30 and 11 o’clock.

Fire Chief Fred Burrows confirms, it occurred in area of the BC Rail Yard on 100th avenue, in the city’s east end. [asset|aid=1672|format=mp3player|formatter=asset_bonus|title=4dafb927fb67846ae48aa8a2216356e4-Burrows – 1_1_Pub.mp3]

The chief says the vehicle was found, in a bush area off elevator road and there were no structures nearby and no injuries associated with the fire or explosion.
