The Allan Cup Committee is looking to the City for a 15 thousand dollar Platinum sponsorship.
Next year, Fort St. John will be the Host Committee for the 2010 Allan Cup.
Representatives from the Committee also requested approval for a proposed beer garden, and looked for approval to get the user fees waved for the North Peace Arena.
Dennis Warren is one of the representatives from the Committee. He says the Allan Cup will bring nationwide attention to Fort St. John.

The Allan Cup is the trophy awarded to the National Senior AAA Amateur men’s ice hockey champions of Canada. It was first donated in 1909 by Sir H. Montague Allan as a trophy for amateur teams.
Warren says in 2008, Senior Hockey in Fort St. John celebrated its 50th Anniversary.

There will be an administration report coming forward in August, and Council will decide if the City will go ahead with the sponsorship.
The Allan Cup Competitions begin in April 2010 from the 19th-24th.
