The Fort St. John and District Chamber of Commerce is holding a workshop on preventing investment fraud.
With the amount of pyramid schemes and identity thefts that are occurring in the city, the Chamber decided to host the free workshop.
It notes that one way fraudsters are targeting potential victims is by using social networking sites like Facebook.
The Chamber says victims can be lured into investing in a non-existent company. The main goal of the event will answer questions relating to understanding the risks of potential scams and how to research or report scams.
So, in partnership with the BC Securities Commission, the Chamber will be holding the workshop on Wednesday, July 17th. It will be held at the Northern Grand from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
