Even though a local 18 year-old youth didn’t win a National singing competition, he says he is still proud of his accomplishments.
Justin Gies competed on Monday night in the Global Country Star Search at the Winspear Centre in Edmonton.
While he didn’t take away top prize, he does say he is proud that he made it into the remaining five.
The Fort St. John native relocated to Taylor several years ago with his family.
Gies says that his mentor was Randy Gee from the local band, Deere John.He taught Gies all about stage performance.
On Monday night, Gies sang, "Proud of the House we Built" by Brooks and Dunn. He said he tried his best, and he is proud of that.
Gies says he plans to graduate and then learn guitar over the summer.
He will also be vying for ten thousand dollars at a competition at the Pacific National Exhibition in Vancouver in August.
