The local museum has received $150,000 in grants, towards phase two of its ongoing expansion project.
The Fort St. John / North Peace Museum will receive $75,000 from each of Electoral Areas B and C, from the PRRD’s Fair Share Grant program.
Evelyn Sim, president of the North Peace Historical Society, says the Museum is currently in phase one of the project, a 50 by 60 foot addition to the east end of the existing building.
Phase one began on May 19th, and Sim says phase two, involving changes to the west-end of the building, will begin as soon as phase one is complete (likely in several months).
She says there is more fundraising to come, including the annual Yard sale and Pie sale, however the proceeds from those events will go to the operating budget, rather than the expansion project. The overall expansion project is expected to have six phases.
