Prince George Fire Center urging ATV riders to use caution

The Prince George Fire Center is warning ATV riders to be aware of where they drive this summer.

ATV and motorcycles exhaust systems produce extreme heat, which could ignite any dry materials in the area.

The Fire Center is warning ATV riders to be extra cautious when driving in tall grass or sawdust pines. It is advising riders to never park vehicles in grass or close to combustibles, to use a spark arrester in the exhaust system, and to take precautions with any other heat sources such as campfires.

The fire danger is currently high throughout the region, and will continue as the weather will be dry and warm in the upcoming days.

To report a wildfire, call 1-800-663-5555 or *5555 on most cellular networks. For more information visit www.bcwildfire.ca
