Olympic Torch visiting Fort St. John on June 1st

It’s your chance to see the Olympic Torch, right here in Fort St. John.

On June 1st, the local RBC branch will be bringing the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch to the City.

A free event is planned at the branch, where community members can take pictures with the torch.

RBC Olympian Steven Elm will also attend the event.Elm is a 2006 silver medalist in Speed Skating, and a former world record holder.

The event will be held from 2:45 until 4:00 pm on Monday afternoon. The RBC branch is located at 10312 – 100th Street.

The Torch will return to the City on January 31st next year during its relay through Canada. By the end of the 106-day relay, the torch will have travelled 45,000 kilometers by land, sea and air, and come within an hour’s drive of 90 per cent of the Canadian population.
