City of Fort St. John to celebrate Arbour Day and Public Works Day Friday

The City of Fort St. John will be celebrating a number of events Friday in the community.

Friday May 22nd is Arbour Day and to celebrate the City will offer subsidized trees to plant in your front yard. The trees will be only $25 each and will be on sale from 5pm to 7pm at the North Peace Pool parking lot.  Now there is a limit of 1 tree per household and it must be planted in your front yard.  The trees are also only available to Fort St. John residents and you must show your current address on a piece of ID.

On top of Friday being Arbour Day, it is also Public Works Day.  Public Works will have a display from 2pm to 7pm of various equipment they operate.

The City will also hold a BBQ to celebrate being named the 2009 Forest Capital of BC.  The BBQ will take place from 5pm to 7pm at the Pool and there will be free hotdogs and ice cream and free seedlings for everyone.
